April 18, 2015, SHANGHAI – The Shanghai International Film Festival (“赌博app”) has recently announced that Yue-Sai Kan will continue to serve as its “International Ambassador” for a second year, making dedicated efforts in promoting the image of Shanghai on the international realm and facilitating cultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world.
According to Hu Jinjun, Director General of the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture, Radio, Film & Television, “Over the past 9 years, Madame Kan has personally secured the attendance of many A-list Hollywood celebrities at 赌博app. She built a bridge between Chinese and American filmmakers and successfully elevated the status of 赌博app to a brand new level. The title of ‘International Ambassador’ is well deserved.”
The Shanghai International Film Festival is the biggest of its kind in East Asia. Yue-Sai Kan has served as Chairwoman of the Invitation Committee since 2006. Under her tutelage, many of the world’s top filmmakers attended 赌博app including Halle Berry, Quincy Jones, Susan Sarandon, Hugh Grant, just to name a few.
“I love Shanghai. Shanghai is my second home! I’m glad to be able to do something for the city I love. I’m very proud of Chinese cinema and Chinese filmmakers. I will try my best to push them onto the world stage and get them recognized internationally. For me, this is a hugely meaningful cause!” says Yue-Sai Kan.
Emmy–winning television host and producer Yue-Sai Kan is known to have opened the eyes of the Chinese to the outside world through her popular television series "One World", which aired on China Central Television (“CCTV”) in the 1980s. Over the years, she has also produced “Looking East”, “Yue-Sai’s World” and a number of other series and feature programs aimed at bridging the East and West. Since 2012, Yue-Sai Kan has been hosting the “China Night” as part of the Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF), raising funds in order to sponsor young Chinese filmmakers to study in the United States. In recognition, HIFF presented her with a Lifetime Achievement Award, and Honolulu Mayor Peter B. Carlisle designated Yue-Sai’s birthday October 6th as “Yue-Sai Kan Day”.
About Yue-Sai Kan
Yue-Sai Kan is a household name in China. People magazine called her "the most famous woman in China” and Time magazine proclaimed her "the Queen of the Middle Kingdom.” Yue-Sai is an Emmy-winning television producer. Her many TV programs such as “Looking East” and “One World” influenced several generations of Chinese people. She later founded Yue-Sai cosmetics, which is the first cosmetics brand for Chinese women. Yue-Sai has written 9 best-selling books in Chinese, making her the first to dispense valuable tips in television production, beauty and modern etiquette to the Chinese. Since 2011, she has served as the National Director of Miss Universe China Pageant. Yue Sai is the International Ambassador of the Shanghai International Film Festival and is a board member of IMAX China. In the educational and humanitarian areas, Yue-Sai has raised millions dollars for charitable causes such as Operation Smile, Orbis, etc. and built schools and awarded scholarships to outstanding students in high schools and universities in China. She is the first Chinese to serve as UNICEF’s “Say Yes for Children” Ambassador.
