The forum titled “The Next Stop of Chinese Films-Between Prosperity and Crisis” said that revolutionary changes are taking place for Chinese cinema with the wide participation of Internet companies in the film industry.
According to a survey, the average age of Chinese major cinema-goers today is around 20 years old, most of whom are Internet users.
Yu Dong, president of Bona Film Group Limited said that it is easier today for a Chinese film to receive capital and investment.
"Chinese cinema will become diversified with a lot of medium-budget productions," said Yu.
China now produces around 600 films every year. An increasing number of films are invested by video-sharing websites like Tencent and Youku Tudou Inc.
Yesterday\'s festival also witnessed more Internet media companies engaging into China\'s flourishing film industry.
The Orient Time Internet Media announced its “220 Investment Programs” at the festival. Projects about copyright and investment collaboration with Hollywood and South Korea film makers will be launched.
The new batch of Chinese films or co-productions will take into account the popular themes such as action, comedy, idol drama and loving stories.
The media company will also launch Sofa Movie which is based on national cable TV and networks operators.
Through TV or mobile phone terminals, Sofa Movie is able to let its viewers watch the theatrical films at home within 45 days after the cinema release.
By the end of the year, Sofa Movie’s cable digital TV users will total 21 million around 15 provinces in China.
