图说:Ron Yerxa is explaining his passion for Chinese films.
After Chinese film market became the world\'s second largest, the whole international film industry began to directly compare it with Hollywood. China\'s box office is almost certain to exceed that of the United States. How does Hollywood view about it? In the jury meeting of Golden Goblet Award, the famous American producer Ron Yerxa said, "I\'m quite interested in Chinese film market." Subsequently, on June the 17th, he accepted the exclusive interview of The Daily News again, saying that he likes to get up early in the morning and taking walks on the streets of Shanghai to see people’s life here. He thinks that there are a lot of things in common in respect of movies.
From the United States to China
What can China learn?
China\'s commercial films are not short of capital and attention now, but independent filmmakers often feel at loss in making art films. Speaking of this, Ron says that independent films are supposed to be in different styles, so there is no need to over concern about it: "Today\'s American movies greatly differentiated, because some independent films are more independent in terms of style. So I would say, there is an aspect to the independent films where they are bolder, more refreshing and very unlike studio films, and there are some independent producers who made the films pretty much like studio films."
However, he thinks, China does not need to blindly learn from Hollywood, because American movies are faced with unimaginable fierce competitions. "Hollywood is very competitive, more competitive than ever. There are thousands of people trying to keep films made. There are that many opportunities to make films, sounds like there are more people in line and then will get in. So that’s the problem. Unless you are incredibly rich, it’s hard to make films since you have to be careful that enough money is coming in. In the end you might not make money. It’s tough for a lot of people to show up in Los Angeles or a lot of people are broken-hearted. It’s not easy. There are a lot more opportunities, you know, like the internet world and cable TV and all that, but I think it’s probably true that there is ten times more buyers maybe, and there is a hundreds or thousands times more sellers. It’s sort of like going to a concert where there are a hundred of seats, but there are a thousand of people in line."

Explore sensitivity stories of Chinese culture in the future
Nowadays, each of the Hollywood big shots imported to China can make a fortune. But it is a concern of many of the Chinese filmmakers that the rapid developing Chinese film market does not upgrade the corresponded influence. There are few movies can get the hits and exported to the overseas market.
At present, in the international world, the most influential Chinese films are still the action films. Ron has compared Jackie Chan with Brad Pitt, "I\'ve seen a lot of Jackie Chan’s movies. He has all the male charm, and is cheerful and lively at the same time. He shares many qualities with Brad Pitt."
However, except Jackie Chan, there is nothing more to talk about Chinese films among the international audience? To this, Ron talked about his feelings. He said every morning he would go swimming in the hotel swimming pool and have his breakfast. Then he would stroll on the streets of Shanghai. "When I go out walking every morning, I feel interested in the way people either expect or aspire to change the position of their life, either economically or socially. Very rich people or very poor people are on the same street. I think we really can explore some sensitivity stories of Chinese culture in the future."
China, of course, can bring more than films to the US, Ron believes. The concept of the Internet is surging in Chinese film industry. Ron says that it does give more effective financing channel to people including American filmmakers, "Internet budgets flow is enough, and they have a good concept idea. This is another kind of financing channel. Some Internet companies in the United States are now making contracts, either series or features. So on that way, there are more opportunities than ever."
